#18,20 – 1861 1c Franklin, perf 15, T1

Interesting Pair of Classic 1¢ U.S. Stamps – Two Different Types From the Same Plate!

This pair of 1857-61 1¢ Franklin stamps were part of the first US series to have perforations.  Because perforation machines could only accomodate paper that was so wide, stamps had to be printed quite close together.  For this reason, the entire series of 1857-61 (US #18-39) is known for having narrow margins. In total, 13 plates were used to produce the series of 1857-61 stamps, three of which were designated for the 1¢ design.  All Type I stamps (US #18) came from Plate 12, meaning so did this pair.  On this plate, 99 positions produced Type I and 101 positions produced Type II (US #20).  This is your chance to get both types in a scarce attached pair. Owning this pair of classic US stamps is easier than ever thanks to Mystic's strict grading standards.  The unused pair has all the beauty and history of the mint pair, but with one or two tiny money-saving imperfections.  Whichever condition you choose, you'll be proud to have this pair in your collection...  Hurry and send for yours right away – less than two examples of each condition are available!
