Complete through 2019
On August 12, 1983, the USPS issued its first Express Mail stamp. While the service had been offered since 1970, this was the first stamp issued specifically for use on Express Mail packages. Express Mail is the fastest service, with guaranteed next day delivery to most destinations. The first Priority Mail stamp was issued in 1991. Priority Mail offers fast domestic package delivery – usually 1-3 days.
Since 1991, Priority and Express Mail stamps have often been issued in pairs to meet increased rates. The stamps also usually compliment one another with similar themes and artwork. Over the years they’ve pictured eagles, space shuttles, national monuments, and aircraft. The stamps issued since 2008 have all featured paintings of famous or notable sites, including Mount Rushmore, Hoover Dam, Old Faithful, Grand Central Terminal, and the USS Arizona Memorial.
