The second of the America Series was issued in cooperation with the Postal Union of the Americas and Spain. It celebrates natural world wonders the early explorers may have seen. The 25¢ U.S. issue pictures the Grand Canyon, not as it is today, but as it might have looked almost 500 years ago. Erosion and time have left their mark on the Canyon, but it's still "grand!"
The airmail stamp features a Caribbean island beach like that discovered by Columbus.
