Highlights from this set:
The sixth non-denominated rate change stamp, the third design change in the series. The design for this stamp was created for a student assignment at Yale University School of Art and Architecture. Months after the “F” stamp was issued, the U.S. Postal Service issued a 29¢ denominated stamp with the same flower design. This was the first time a non-denominated rate change stamp was followed by a denominated stamp of the same design.
Two new flag stamps, one picturing the flag with the Olympic rings, and one picturing three flags in a parade formation. The Flags on Parade stamp unofficially commemorated the 125th anniversary of the first Memorial Day celebration in Waterloo, New York.
The second and third “mini-scapes” stamps.
The torch stamp, the first ATM stamp printed on paper, rather than plastic. This change came about after people complained that the previous polyester stamps were not environmentally friendly.
