New self-adhesive Statue of Liberty stamps were issued in booklets. In 1994, a 29¢ version of this stamp was sold. In this 32¢ version, the background was changed from red to pink to avoid confusion with the older stamp.
 
Printed on the back of the booklet of 20 stamps was a message concerning the Postal Service's Stamps mail order catalog. In August, a new version of the stamp booklet was distributed with a message for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
