In America, some of the best childhood memories come from time spent at state and county fairs with family.  Whether big or small, there is always plenty of fun and excitement to be had by adults and children alike... Who could forget the first time walking through the gates of a fair?  First, there are all the brightly colored tents filled with fun games to play and prizes to win.  Then, there are the delicious smells of fried food and sugary treats wafting through the entire fairgrounds.  Just when it couldn't get any better, the midway comes into view.  Between the Ferris wheel and the Tilt-a-Whirl, it's hard to decide what to ride first. When everyone has had their fill of snacks and games, it's time to look at some of the exhibits.  There are huge milk cows on display for a panel of judges, white and brown goats parading around an arena, and elegant horses in their stalls.  Sometimes there are big fluffy rabbits to admire and chickens with different colored ribbons on their cages.  It's hard to remember what all the colors mean, but everyone knows the blue ribbon is the best. It's always hard to say goodby to the fun of the fair... But even though the fair only comes once a year, the memories made there last a lifetime.
