History the stamp represents:  Charlie Brown tries his best at everything he does but strikes out all the same.  He manages the world’s worst Little league team, forever battles the kite-eating tree, and just can’t muster the courage to talk to the Little Red-Haired Girl.  Despite his own troubles, he’s always a good big brother, a devoted pet owner, and all-around Good Ol’ Charlie Brown.

Charlie Brown is intelligent and clever, but awkward and shy.  He experiences failure again and again, not because he doesn’t learn his lesson, but because of his strong determination and resolve.  This is often seen when he plays sports.  As the pitcher for his Little League team, he gives up big hits and gets himself (and most of his clothes) knocked off the mound.  When he practices kicking the football with Lucy, she always pulls the ball away at the last second, leading Charlie Brown to flip into the air and hurt himself.  Though he always suspects she’ll do it again, she promises she won’t.  Charlie brown chooses to give her another chance, showing the faith he has in his friends to do the right thing.

Though he’s often the underdog, Charlie Brown remains optimistic through his daily struggles.  But when things don’t go his way, even Charlie Brown can get frustrated, exclaiming “Good Grief!”
