Surprisingly affordable CSA #12c is a piece of Civil War history you can hold in your hands. You’ll notice the postally used stamp costs slightly more than the unused stamp. That’s because it’s remarkable a postally used stamp survived the Civil War and almost 150 years!
CSA #12c was printed by two different firms between 1863 and 1864 – the height of the devastating war. The 10¢ denomination paid the letter rate for all Confederate mail. Its engraved design pictures the Confederacy’s president, Jefferson Davis.
