Own Limited-Edition Endeavour STS-89 Silk Covers

Produced by Colorano, this set of two covers honors Launch and Return of the Space Shuttle Endeavour’s 12th mission, STS-89 (the 89th mission of the Space Shuttle program).

These popular Colorano covers feature “silk” cachets that are produced through a special screening process and then bonded to the envelope.  Each cachet pictures a photo from the mission and is surrounded by a golden border.  The covers bear patriotic US stamps and cancellations relating to events from the mission.  You can discover the story behind each one with the informative captions next to the cachets.

Launched on January 22, 1998, STS-89 lasted eight days, returning January 31.  The Endeavour docked with the Mir Space Station.  An American astronaut who had been aboard the Mir  for about four months was replaced by another American astronaut.  A Russian cosmonaut was also among the crew members of the Shuttle.
