American Bankers Association – This issue marked the 75th anniversary of the American Bankers Association and illustrates some of the areas in which banks give service.

Samuel Gompers – Commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous labor leader and founder of the American Federation of Labor (A.F.L.).

Executive Mansion – Completed in 1801, Irish architect James Hoban designed the 132-room White House.

Supreme Court Building – Although the Federal government was moved to Washington, D.C., in 1800, the Supreme Court building was not completed until 1935.

U.S. Capitol Building – In addition to its use by the United States Congress, the U.S. Capitol Building is a museum of American art and history.

Railroad Engineers of America – Honors the railroad engineers of America and portrays John Luther (Casey) Jones, who was killed in a train wreck near Vaughn, Mississippi.

Kansas City, Missouri Centenary – Located on the site of the first permanent settlement, the Town of Kansas was given a charter in 1850.  Three years later, the community was incorporated and renamed Kansas City.

Boy Scouts – This stamp was issued in honor of the Boy Scouts of America, on the occasion of the second National Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

Indiana Territory – In 1800, Congress created the Indiana Territory, incorporating present-day Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin, and parts of Michigan and Minnesota.  In 1809, Illinois was made a separate territory.

California Statehood – Discovered by the Spanish, California was ceded to the United States in 1848.  Two years, later California became the 31st state to join the Union.
