Mint Stamp Tributes to John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Family

Kennedy Jr., his wife Caroline, and sister-in-law Lauren Bessette.  As the first baby born to a president-elect John Jr. became part of our own families.  Now you can own three mint stamp sheets honoring JFK Jr., his father, and their families.  Stamps picture a mix of photos and original artwork tracing the lives and legacy of the Kennedy family.  You’ll see memorable moments from JFK Jr.’s life, including playing under his father’s desk at the White House, saluting his father at his funeral, his graduation, wedding, and lots more.  These stamps are meaningful tributes to the Kennedy family you’ll want to own.

Remembering John–John…

Perhaps our earliest memory of John Kennedy Jr. is as a playful young child hiding under his father’s desk.  Shortly after, we saw a brave little boy saluting his slain father’s funeral procession on his own third birthday.  At that time he was known as John-John, a name given to him by White House reporters who often witnessed the President chasing his son, calling after him, “John, John...”  Soon after this sad moment, John’s mother, Jacqueline, moved the family to a new apartment and a new life in Manhattan.

After attending Catholic school and Phillips Academy, John entered Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island.  In 1982, he graduated and enrolled in New York University Law School.  Finally, in 1989, Kennedy passed the New York State Bar Exam and was hired as an assistant prosecutor with the New York district attorney.  John left the office after just four years.  During his tenure, however, he had an impressive 6-0-conviction record.

Following his brief time as a prosecutor, many people assumed Kennedy would follow in the footsteps of many of his family members and enter the political arena.  Instead, John chose to become a magazine publisher.  George, named for George Washington, combined political and social commentary with popular culture.

Sadly, just as we began to think that John Kennedy Jr. had risen above the tragedies of his famous family, we got word that his private plane had crashed on the way to his cousin Rory’s wedding.  In one fleeting moment, another Kennedy life was lost.
