Issued in 2013 to mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, this mint sheet of 10 Marshall Islands stamps features original artwork honoring important events from the Civil Rights movement.  They include:

Executive Order 9981 – Issued in 1948 by President Harry Truman, abolishing racial discrimination in the armed forces.

Brown v. Board of Education – A 1954 court case declaring that segregation in public schools is unconstitutional.

Montgomery Bus Boycott – Begun with Rosa Parks' 1955 arrest for refusing to give up her seat on the bus, it brought an end to segregated buses in Alabama.

Little Rock Nine
– A group of nine African American students are denied entrance to school.  With the aid of President Eisenhower, they are admitted the next day.

Lunch Counter Sit-ins – A series of 1960 nonviolent protests in North Carolina that led Woolworth departments stores to end segregation in their stores. 

Freedom Riders – Civil Rights activists rode interstate buses in 1961 to challenge those who ignored the integration of public buses.

"I Have a Dream" speech – Martin Luther King Jr. delivers his famed 1963 speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial calling for an end to racism.

Civil Rights Act – A 1964 act that banned discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.  It also ended racial segregation in schools, workplaces, and public facilities.

Selma March – A series of 54-mile marches between Selma, and Montgomery, Alabama protesting racial injustice in 1965.

Voting Rights Act – The 1965 legislation that prohibits racial discrimination in voting.  Often considered the most effective piece of civil rights legislation ever passed in America.
