Commemorate the Planes that Ruled the Skies During World War II

Discover the planes that helped the Allies win World War II. This mint sheet features original paintings of 30 legendary aircraft and commemorates the 75th anniversary of the first flight of the P-40 Warhawk.

The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk first flew in 1938. It was a single-engine fighter and escort plane. This aircraft was used by many of the Allies during World War II. Over 13,000 were made before production ended in 1944.

Other aircraft pictured include:

British Supermarine Spitfire – More of these fighter planes were produced than any other British aircraft. It was the country’s only fighter in continual production throughout the war.

Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress – This bomber was used for daytime campaigns. Its long range and ability to return to safety after being damaged made it a popular choice. During World War II, this aircraft dropped more bombs that any other U.S.-made plane.

Douglas C-47 Skytrain – Nicknamed “Gooney Bird,” this transport plane was adapted from the DC-3 airliner. It was used to transport troops, cargo, and wounded, and played a major role in the Berlin airlift. More than 10,000 were produced. The dependable planes were used during the Vietnam War and many were converted for use by civil airlines and private owners.

And there are many more World War II aircraft pictured on the stamp sheet.  Explore them all – order now!
