Get 15 Used Mozambique Company Stamps in Your Collection
Mozambique Company was a private company given the rights, by 50-year royal charter, to part of the Portuguese colony of Mozambique. The first stamps of this district were issued in 1892, each one an overprint of Mozambique stamps #15-20. A portrait of King Luiz of Portugal was the subject. Interestingly, a 1918-31 series of 37 stamps included just one which was not bi-color. In 1937, a wonderful set of engraved stamps appeared. Included among the 37 beautifully engraved stamps were seven bi-color triangle stamps showcasing such exotic wildlife as giraffes, zebras, and hippopotamus.
