Closely Orbits the Sun
The Ulysses space probe was a joint venture between the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA. Considered one of the ESA’s most successful missions, this probe studyied the sun for almost 20 years since its deployment on October 6, 1990. Ulysses collected information on sun spots, solar wind storms and more, enabling scientists to better understand our nearest star. In fact, the probe was so useful, the ESA expanded funding for the probe in 2000. Ulysses and eight other unmanned space probes are featured on this mint sheet.
