Hold a page of history in your hands with this packet from Montenegro.  Located north of Albania, Montenegro became independent in 1452.  In 1916 the Austrians took control, and late in 1918, it united with Serbia.  During WW II Montenegro became an Italian protectorate, and from 1943-45 it was occupied by Germany.  The Germans used overprinted Yugoslavia stamps.  After the war Montenegro united with Serbia.  For a time overprinted Italian-era stamps were used, but after 1945, Yugoslavian issues became valid.  Add this history to your collection now.
