Mint Stamps Bring Classic Stories to Life
Issued in 1987 this fun set of seven Mongolia stamps honors two Disney adaptations of classic tales.
The Brave Little Tailor, a Disney short released in 1938, is based on the Brothers Grimm's The Valiant Little Tailor, published in 1640. Stamps include scenes of the tailor (portrayed by Mickey) with the king and princess, fighting the giant, and swatting at flies.
The other three stamps in this set feature scenes from Mark Twain's 1865 short story "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County." The story was Twain's first major success as a writer that earned him national attention.
