Mickey and Pals visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa

In 1991 Bhutan issued several souvenir sheets picturing Mickey and his pals exploring some of the world's wonders.  The sheet offered here pictures Mickey, Minnie and Goofy in front of Italy's Leaning Tower of Pisa.  After construction on the tower began in 1173, it was discovered that the ground below it was too soft and it began to lean.  The tilt continued to increase during the nearly 200 years it took to complete the building.  In 2001, an 11-year restoration effort helped to reduce the angle of the tilt slightly.
