Discover Pluto's Blue Note
Issued in 1981, this fun Dominica souvenir sheet was issued to honor Pluto's 50th anniversary. An early version of Pluto first appeared in The Chain Gang in 1930. He was then named Rover in The Picnic (1930), and finally received his current name in The Moose Hunt (1931). After appearing in 24 Mickey Mouse films, Pluto got his own series in 1937.
This neat sheet features a scene from the 1947 animated short, Pluto's Blue Note. In the cartoon, Pluto wants to sing, but no one will sing with him. He eventually discovers he can use his tail as a phonograph needle and can finally sing to his heart's content.
