Mysterious Trinidad & Tobago Revenue Stamp Can Be Yours

National Insurance stamps were first printed in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1970s with a coat of arms design surrounded by "Trinidad and Tobago National Insurance" in an oval surrounding the center.  Each denomination also includes a Roman numeral from I to VIII in the center of the stamp.  They were printed by Bradbury Wilkinson in sheets of 100 and perforated 11 1/2.

Interestingly, the only known examples of these stamps have been found in mint condition or with Specimen perfins, both of which originated from the printer's archive.  Therefore, no one knows for sure if any of these stamps were actually used for their intended purpose.  It's a philatelic mystery yet to be uncovered.  It's fun to collect stamps like these that no one knows the full story of.  Order today.
