2013 U.N. World Flags
New York Office

The New York Flag stamps feature the flags of four member-states of the United Nations.  The flags included are South Sudan (admitted as an independent state separate from Sudan on July 14, 2011); the Russian Federation (admitted as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on October 24, 1945, and continued as Russian Federation on December 24, 1991); Myanmar (formerly Burma, admitted April 19, 1948); and Cape Verde (admitted September 16, 1975).

The flag of Myanmar was officially adopted in 2010.  The three stripes of the flag symbolize solidarity (yellow), peace, tranquility and vegetation (green), and valor and decisiveness (red).  The white star represents the union of the country.
