The United Nations Development Programme (U.N.D.P.) is a global partnership of countries and territories which concentrate on the needs, opportunities, and energies of the developing world. These stamps illustrate just a few of the U.N.D.P.’s highly successful projects. The New York stamps depict four uses of water resources - dams for power, the benefits of irrigation, the healthful necessity of hygiene, and wells for clean drinking water. The Geneva stamps illustrate four aspects of forestry - erosion control, logging, lumber for building, and a tree nursery. The Vienna stamps show four forms of agriculture - new crop strains, animal husbandry, technical instruction, and nutrition training.
