The United Nations continues to make great strides in furthering the cause of human rights. Another World Conference on Human Rights took place in June, 1993, in Vienna, Austria. This is the fourth set in the five-year Human Rights Series.

The 29¢ New York stamp features Article Nineteen of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The artwork is “Lady Writing a Letter With Her Maid.” The artist is Johannes Vermeer, Netherlands. Reproduction rights were granted by the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin. The 50¢ stamp features Article Twenty and the artwork is “The Meeting,” by Ester Almquist, Sweden. This painting was provided by the National Museum, Stockholm.
