My Dream for Peace One Day This is the last set of a three-year series of issues to commemorate September 21, the International Day of Peace.  In 2002, the U.N. General Assembly proclaimed that September 21, the International Day of Peace, should be a day of global ceasefire and non-violence.    Each year, the Lions Clubs International sponsors a worldwide peace poster contest for children from 11 to 13-years old.  The purpose is to give children a chance to think about world peace and to express what it means to them.  Peace doves fly on 2006 stamp designs by children from China, Thailand, Italy, the U.S.A., Germany, Indonesia, and Japan.  Their theme was “Give Peace a Chance.”
