In 1969, the United Nations began issuing stamps specifically for use on mail posted at the Palais des Nations (Palace of Nations). Located in Geneva, Switzerland, the Palais des Nations is the headquarters of the United Nations European offices.  From 1920 until 1946, it served as headquarters of the League of Nations.  Now, in addition to the United Nations, the Palais des Nations houses the International Labor Organization, the International Red Cross, and the World Council of Churches.

The stamps were issued in 1969 and 1970.  The Geneva issues are adaptations of stamps previously issued by the United Nations in New York.  They feature the U.N. Headquarters in Geneva as well as the United Nations Charter and symbols of the goals of this wonderful organization.
