The U.N. Postal Authority issued eight new definite stamps in 2002. Starting March 1, 2002, all U.N. issues for the Vienna office are denominated in euros only. For the two-year transition period prior to 2002, the Vienna office stamps were denominated in both schillings and euros. The six euro definitive stamps feature photographs of sites in Austria. One, the Melk Abbey, is over one thousand years old.
