The Indigenous Art Series originated from a 2002 exhibition at U.N. Headquarters in New York which focused on basic issues of indigenous rights.

The Offices in Vienna sheet features a detail from an illuminated manuscript, the Book of Kells, created about 700 A.D.  Another stamp on this sheet shows an ornate letter “D” from a 1356 Portuguese medical treatise.

A wood carving from medieval northern Iceland forms the design for one of the stamps on the sheet, and eggs decorated in the Ukrainian style are pictured on another.

Two human effigies complete the sheet, a female figure from the Paleolithic Age in Austria and a male idol from the Neolithic Era in Hungary.
