1976 marked the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Celebrations took place nationwide on July 4. The stamp pictures the Statue of Liberty with fireworks in the background. Everything from airplanes to clothing was colored red, white, and blue. Special quarters, half-dollars, and silver dollars were minted for the occasion.
