 Special Flight Cover Commemorates New Japanese Airline Route

In October 1962, Japan Air Lines inaugurated a new Southern route to Europe.  This Cover was issued to commemorate this expansion.  Dubbed the “New Silk Road,” this route traveled from Tokyo to London by way of the Middle East then through Europe.  The service was expanded in 1968 to fly through Beirut, Lebanon.  The Cover includes stamps and art from Beirut, Lebanon.
