Own Limited-Edition Atlantis STS-106 Silk Covers

Produced by Colorano, this set of seven covers honors important moments from the Space Shuttle Atlantis’ 22nd mission, STS-106 (the 99th mission of the Space Shuttle program).

These popular Colorano covers feature “silk” cachets that are produced through a special screening process and then bonded to the envelope.  Each cachet pictures a photo from the mission and is surrounded by a golden border.  The covers all bear patriotic US stamps and cancellations relating to events from the mission.  You can discover the story behind each one with the informative captions next to the cachets.

Launched on September 8, 2000, STS-106 was a late addition to the launch schedule.  It was added in due to delays in the launch of the Russian Zvedzda module.  Returning to the International Space Station for the second time in four months, the Atlantis carried additional supplies in preparation for the ISS’s first permanent inhabitants.  The mission also included the 50th spacewalk in Space Shuttle history.
