Sam Houston – Issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Sam Houston, who was a soldier, statesman, U.S. senator, and governor of Texas.

New York World’s Fair – The theme of the 1964 New York World’s Fair was “Man’s Achievement in an Expanding Universe.”  This theme was used in exhibits showcasing America’s technological and economic advancement.

John F. Kennedy – Memorializes the 35th President of the United States who was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.

Register and Vote – Issued as a continuing commemorative, this stamp was designed to publicize elections and emphasize the importance of voting.

William Shakespeare – Salutes the 400th anniversary of the birth of Shakespeare, the renowned English playwright and poet, who is considered by many to be the greatest single writer in the English language.

Christmas – This third U.S. Christmas issue was unique in that it was the first time the Post Office had printed more than one stamp design on one sheet.  Each block of four contains four different illustrations that were issued attached or “se-tenant.”
