Historic Mint Hawaii Stamp Printed Specially For Collectors!
American missionaries settled in Hawaii during the 1840s. Letters sent to friends and relatives on the mainland told of Hawaii’s warm tropical breezes, crystal blue waters and sunkissed beaches.
The increased volume of mail prompted the Hawaiian government to begin issuing its distinctive postage stamps in 1851. In 1859, 1¢ and 2¢ “Numeral Issues” were printed. The Numeral Issues were replaced a few years later.
However, Americans remained intrigued by the exotic island nation, its emerging importance to the U.S., and its unusual postage stamps.
To satisfy demand from stamp collectors, both the 1¢ and 2¢ stamps were reprinted in the mid-1860s. This is a great opportunity to acquire a scarce stamp that was never intended for postal use.
