The 14th FIFA World Cup (international soccer championship) took place between June 8 and July 8, 1990 in Italy.  The ultimate victor was the West Germany team, who successful won the cup from defending champion Argentina.  It was the last year Germany had two teams – the country was reunified later in 1990.
