Mint Stamp Tribute to Alice in Wonderland
Issued in 1987, this fun Grenada sheet of nine stamps was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Disney's first full-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It features nine scenes from Alice in Wonderland, Disney's 13th full-length animated feature. The film was based on the book series by Lewis Carroll. Walt Disney had read the books as a child and had wanted to do an Alice movie for years. In fact, he considered making an animated-live-action film of Alice in 1932, but made Snow White instead. Walt registered the title a few years later and re-worked the project for several years before it was finally realized and released in 1951.
