A Little More About Joseph R. Biden...

Joseph Robineete Biden Jr. took the oath of office as 46th president of the United States on January 20, 2021.

After graduating from Syracuse University School of Law, Biden began his lifelong political career. He was a US senator for 35 years, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, and vice president of the United States during Barack Obama's presidency.

As vice president, Biden was involved in shaping US policy in the Middle East, worked with Latin American leaders to stop drug trafficking, and helped rebuild America's manufacturing and auto industries. He was also a skilled negotiator who was able to reach common ground with Republican leaders to benefit the American people. After a number of tragic shootings, Biden became the head of the Gun Violence Task Force. He was also a major advocate of the Violence Against Women Act.

Biden announced his presidential bid on April 25, 2019. After a close and hotly contested election centered around managing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 election. He became the second non-incumbent vice president to be elected president, and the first Democrat to do so.
