This is an 1863 Confederate States of America Loan Certificate in the amount of $10,000. Filled out per the Act of August 19, 1861, from Charles Manigault (a South Carolina plantation owner). Certificate measures 13 x 8 1/2" and pictures a vignette of a full-rigged sailing ship. It is dated March 11, 1863, and signed by A.T. Jonas, acting Register of the Treasury of the Confederate States of America. It was printed by J.T. Paterson & Co. This certificate was once folded in sixths with some small imperfections around the edge not unusual for an item of this age. Overall, in great condition for its age. Own this piece of history today.
