Japan Airlines was established in 1951 to help the nation grow following World War II.  It became Japan’s national airline in 1953 and inaugurated international flights the following year.  The company was privatized in 1987 and is now the sixth-largest airline in the world.

As the airline grew over the years, it introduced new services to new locations.  Special Event covers were produced to mark these milestones.  Now you can get five of these Special Event covers.  Selections will vary, and that’s half the fun!  The covers I looked through had stamps from Japan, Germany, and the US, some with neat pictorial cancels.  Plus they all had whimsical illustrated cachets.  They honored the inauguration of a variety of services including Tokyo to Guam flights, Osaka to Guam, round the world, and more.  What will you discover?
