Honoring D-Day, the coin pictures an American soldier running across a Normandy beach with other soldiers in the trenches. The back pictures the shoulder sleeve insignia of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force and a quote from General Dwight Eisenhower’s D-Day address to the troops. The quote reads, “I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory!”
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this coin went to The Battle of Normandy Foundation and the World War II Memorial to help fund the construction of a memorial in Normandy, France.
