1990 Medicinal Plants

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (U.N.I.D.O.) has been taking the lead in promoting the industrial production of herbal medicines in developing countries as a low-cost, readily available alternative to the more expensive conventional products marketed in developed countries.  Recent research has ample examples where the therapies of traditional societies have been scientifically evaluated, industrially developed, and added to modern medicine.
