Own this cover picturing George Washington (1732-1799).  The Flag over Independence Hall stamp is tied to the cover with a Washington’s Birthplace, Virginia, postmark.  The date represents the 246th anniversary of Washington’s birth.

Washington was a Founding Father, who was the military commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.  Against all odds, he led his army to victory and the country to independence.  Washington later served as president of the Constitutional Convention and the nation’s first President.  For his leadership of the young nation, he has been called the “Father of his Country.”
