More About Bhutan...

Bhutan (officially the Kingdom of Bhutan) is a country in the Eastern Himalayas between China and India.  It is also known as "Druk Yul," or "land of the thunder dragon."  Nepal and Bangladesh are located close to the country, but do not share a border.

Bhutan has a rich postal history, with its first stamps issued in 1962.  Before that, mail delivery was more of an informal system.  When it was time for postage stamps to be created, American entrepreneur Burt Todd helped out, ensuring the stamps stood out and attracted attention worldwide.  To read more neat history about Bhutan's stamps and postal service, click here.
