1926 2c Battle of White Plains was America's First-Ever Souvenir Sheet

This sheet has a fascinating history!  It was released nearly 100 years ago on October 18, 1926, at the Second International Philatelic Exhibition (SIPEX).  These were the first stamps to be printed outside the Bureau of Engraving and Printing headquarters.

 

The BEP planned to send these sheets back to Washington to be gummed, perforated, and shipped back to the show for sale, but that never happened...
