This First Day Cover features stamps issued as part of a block of four commemorating the historic preservation movement in the United States.  Showcased on this cover: Decatur House, built in 1819, was one of the first private residences in Washington, DC; and the Charles W. Morgan, 19th century whaling vessel anchored in Mystic, Connecticut.  The other stamps picture: a San Francisco cable car which still operates on ten miles of track; and the San Xavier del Bac Mission in Tucson, Arizona, which has been in existence since 1797.
