This sheet of stamps was issued in 2001 to celebrate ten legendary ballparks from baseball's early and mid twentieth century history. The set honors stadiums that once stood as the home fields of Major League teams across the country, many of which have since been demolished and now exist only in memory and in historic photographs. The stamps drew on vintage postcard style artwork to give each design a nostalgic, old fashioned feel fitting for the classic ballparks they portray.

The set includes Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Crosley Field in Cincinnati, Yankee Stadium in New York City, the Polo Grounds in New York City, Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Fenway Park in Boston, Comiskey Park in Chicago, Shibe Park in Philadelphia, and Wrigley Field in Chicago. Each stamp shows either an aerial view of the playing field packed with fans or an exterior view of the stadium's distinctive architecture, capturing the character that made each ballpark unique. The denomination of thirty four cents appears on every stamp alongside the name of the featured stadium and the year 2001.

With several of these ballparks no longer standing today, the sheet serves as a lasting visual record of stadiums that shaped the game for generations of fans, preserving a piece of Americana that has largely disappeared from the modern baseball landscape.
