Own Scarce Mauritius Stamp – Only ONE Available!
The first two postage stamps of Mauritius (known as the "Post Office" stamps) were issued in 1847 are legendary philatelic rarities. They were the first stamps issued in any part of the British Empire outside of Great Britain. This stamp was issued the following year (1848) and, while not quite as rare, is still quite scarce and desirable today. In fact, Mystic has just ONE available. It has some major flaws, but that has allowed us to offer it at significant savings off Scott Catalogue value ($740 in used condition).
You'll receive the exact stamp pictured here. It's printed on yellowish or grayish paper and pictures a portrait of Queen Victoria in orange red ink. Interestingly, it has a hand stamp on the back of the stamp which reads "U of M Stamp Collection." Have you ever seen this marking before? Get it in your collection today.
