This sheet of 12 stamps highlights some of America’s most influential designers, who affected the look of everything from kitchen appliances to airplanes.  Each stamp features the name of the designer and a photograph of the item created.  Here is some additional information about the designers:

Peter Müller-Munk: Chrome Pitcher – Designed the Waring Blender and products for Westinghouse.

Frederick Hurten Rhead: Ceramic Dinnerware – Taught patients at the Arequipa Sanatorium.

Raymond Loewy: Streamlined Pencil Sharpener – Redesigned the Coca-Cola bottle and Air Force One Presidential airplane.

Donald Deskey: Table Lamp – Designed the interior of Radio City Music Hall.

Walter Dorwin Teague: Kodak Camera – Also designed Steinway pianos and Marmon cars.

Norman Bel Geddes: Radio – Stage designer for operas and movies.

Henry Dreyfuss: Desk Telephone – Designed the first upright Hoover vacuum and seating for John Deere tractor.

Greta von Nessen: “Anywhere” Lamp – She successfully ran her husband’s studio after his death.

Dave Chapman: Sewing Machines – Became Head of Product Development at Montgomery Ward.

Eliot Noyes: IBM Selectric Typewriter –  Worked on the U.S. military glider program  in World War II.

Russel Wright: American Modern Flatware – The most popular flatware set in U.S. history.

Gilbert Rohde: Electric Clock – Also invented
