2013 First-Class Forever Stamp,Harry Potter

Postal Service Celebrates the Adventures of Harry Potter with Limited-Edition Stamp Collection (and Special Message!)

On November 19, 2013, in Orlando, Florida, the U.S. Postal Service celebrated the world of Harry Potter with a souvenir booklet, which includes 20 new colorful stamps that pay tribute to the magical stories that have inspired fans of all ages. The courageous heroes, fearsome villains, and extraordinary creatures of J.K. Rowling’s novels, as depicted in Warner Bros.’ award-winning films, come to life on the stamps that capture the enchantment of Harry’s world. Art directors Greg Breeding and William J. Gicker worked with Warner Bros. to design the souvenir booklet.

The set of 20 stamps was issued in a booklet of five panes of four stamps each.  Seven of the stamps include microprinted words which, when put together spell out "...you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."  The text can be viewed under magnification on the following stamps:

1. Young Harry holding his Hogwarts letter – "...you (on rightmost corner of top piece of paper Harry is holding)
2. Young Harry, Ron, and Hermione standing on the Hogwarts Express train – have a (on the corner of Harry's shirt collar)
3. Fawkes the phoenix's and young Harry – a place (Fawkes's shoulder near top of yellow feathers)
4. Professor McGonagall – at Hogwarts (at top of scroll she's holding)
5. Luna Lovegood – School of (top right corner of the bottom-most magazine)
6. Bellatrix Lestrange – Witchcraft (horizontally just above her right armpit)
7. Harry casting a red spell – and Wizardry." (horizontally under midpoint of his wand)
