History the stamp represents:  Scar is arguably the most infamous Disney villain of all time.  While there may be more powerful or menacing characters, Scar is one of the few evil-doers to achieve his goals.

At the beginning of The Lion King, Scar, younger brother to King Mufasa, wants the throne and plots to take it by force.  Scar uses his nephew, Simba, to draw Mufasa into danger and kill him.  This is one of only a handful of times a Disney villain actually kills a main protagonist.  Scar convinces Simba (who did not see Scar throw Mufasa from the cliff) that his father’s death is his fault and that he should “run away and never return.”  Scar sends three hyenas to kill Simba, but they only manage to chase him away.  With Simba and Mufasa gone, Scar becomes the new king of Pride Rock.  He immediately brings an army of hyenas – the natural enemies of lions – into the Pride Lands.

Through Scar gets exactly what he wants, under his rule there is famine and drought.  He becomes angry and paranoid over the years after constantly being compared to Mufasa.  When Simba returns to reclaim the throne, he forces Scar to reveal the truth about Mufasa’s death.  Scar is ultimately killed by hyenas when he betrays them trying to avoid battle with Simba.  Scar’s betrayal of family and allies makes him a villain whose acclaim goes beyond the world of animation.
