In 2018, as suddenly as the USPS had introduced the first modern imperforate stamps, they announced no further imperforates would be released. This was a big disappointment to the many collectors interested in owning these modern rarities.
In 2021, the USPS did an about-face and announced it would start issuing imperforates again. This time, the quantities were even smaller, in some cases just 3,000-5,000. Nobody but the USPS knows the exact numbers for sure. Compared to perforated modern commemorative stamps (issued in the millions), these numbers are incredibly small.
