Get this 1982 Proof Coin Set –
Includes Treasury Department Token

This set contains five proof coins manufactured at the San Francisco Mint.  The small “S” mintmark can be found on each coin.  Production was halted on the Susan B. Anthony Dollar because its size was similar to the quarter’s and was often confused.  To fill the spot in the display case where the dollar coin had been, this set has a bronze token showing the seal of the Department of the Treasury.

Proof coin sets are produced by the US mint in San Francisco using a process that brings out the beauty of each coin’s design.  The dies and planchets (the metal disks that will become coins) are polished before the coin is struck.  This gives the fields (blank areas) a mirrored look and the image a frosted effect.  Proof coins are struck twice, giving the coin a sharper design and rims.  The proof sets are packaged at the mint and display America’s coins at their best.  Each set is only produced for one year, so the supply is limited.
